Hi [Manager],
I would like to propose an 8-week sabbatical from [Mon Sep 1] through [Fri Oct 24], returning [Mon Oct 27].
Why now [Project A] ships [Aug 22]. After that, my next major deliverable is [Project B], scoped to start in [November]. The sabbatical sits cleanly between them. I have been here [X years]; I have not taken a break longer than [Y days] in that time. My intent is to come back ready to lead [Project B] from kickoff.
Coverage plan • [Project A delivery]: I will fully transition to [Colleague B] over the two weeks before I leave. Documentation in [doc link]. • [Team rituals]: [Colleague C] runs standup, [Colleague D] runs weekly review. Schedules attached. • [External partners]: Pre-meeting with [Partner X] in late August to introduce [Colleague B] as primary contact through October. • [Hiring]: I have flagged [open role] to [Recruiter]. [Colleague B] will close.
Cost Standard salary continues per company sabbatical policy. No hiring backfill needed for an 8-week absence.
Return commitment I will return on [Mon Oct 27] and commit to staying through [Project B] launch (target [March]). Happy to put this in writing if that is helpful.
